BART, Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension and UPRR Freight Railroad Relocation Projects, Fremont to San Jose, CA

Rachael Keish served as environmental coordinator for the design and construction of the BART Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension Design-Build Project, as well as for the Freight Railroad Relocation Project within the same corridor. The $700 million BART extension includes the 9.9-mile segment from Warm Springs (future station) in Fremont to the Berryessa (future station) in San Jose. The Freight Railroad Relocation includes relocation of the UPRR tracks and utilities such as MCI telecommunications and Kinder-Morgan and Chevron petroleum pipelines. Rachael was responsible for incorporating mitigation measures and permit conditions into the project design documents and served as liaison for the client, design team, regulatory agencies and construction contractors. She was also responsible for construction monitoring to ensure environmental compliance in the field, and for administering the Supervisor’s Environmental Training program.
